The End is Nigh…

Well, we can’t believe that our time at IMC is ending… The last three-and-a-bit months have flown by. The term finished today with a moving commissioning service for ourselves, another couple who will be moving in January and a pastor from Bangladesh who will be returning home (Samuel’s special friend, Barnabas!).

Samuel's special friend

We shared from John 10:10, where Jesus offers the promise of ‘life in all its fullness’. Too often we take that as  ‘life in all its “full-onness”! But as we reflect on this ‘full’ time at IMC, we’ve come to appreciate so many aspects:

– The challenges of stretching our brains through the studies (and the real sense of much learning, in particular regarding inter-cultural engagement)
– The joys of watching the boys thrive at school/pre-school and in a new social environment, and seeing Samuel walking here for the first time.
– Great times of sharing with our co-students of different ages, backgrounds, family situations and future projects.SONY DSC– Loving and encouraging support from all the staff here, particularly our pastoral care group leaders.
– Valuable time of preparation for life together as a family in France.

Throughout it all, we’ve witnessed God’s faithfulness in so many ways: the renting of our house back in Andover, the boys’ schooling, through the support and prayers of our friends at home, through the amazing help from our family (in particular, Grandma helping with the boys), through the provision of a house in France and countless other ways.

So all in all, we’ve encountered Christ in unexpected places and through unexpected people. As we move to France, we go with an increased sense of our inadequacy for the task ahead but an equal sense of God’s provision and trust in Him to bring about HIS vision for HIS kingdom in France. We look forward to the challenge as we move over there on the 14th December.

The end of our time in the UK is nigh — à bientôt en France!

In the meantime, we wish you all a peace-filled, joy-filled, love-filled Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
